World’s largest gathering of 1979-1986 Mustangs & Capris!

Northwest Foureye Barbecue

Four-eyed link-up in Seattle!

We did it, and didn't even get rained on! Mother Nature cleared off just enough of the rain clouds for us to meet up at the Champs Kart track on 6th Ave S. in Seattle today. Attending with cars were Neil (WHTLTHR79RS); Joe (84NAVYCAT), Dave (mytrscapri50), and myself, Lee. Also in attendance were Joe's wife, Carol (right?) and Neil's son, Nelson (Schoolboy). Nelson's newly acquired Capri didn't make the trip for a combination of mechanical & administrative reasons  . But we're sure to meet up in the not-too distant future, so that'll be something to look forward to, especially after Neil (a career Ford tech) goes thru it.

Our photo options dropped off drastically when we found that (ahem) whoever was supposed to recharge my digital camera's batteries the night before had dropped the ball. Said camera died after taking several shots of the cars together, and a members-standing-with-their-cars shot didn't get an image  . Anyway, we got a half-dozen pics from a couple angles, and I whittled them down to the three best:

As seen here, these cars are Neil's (FEP: WHTLTHR79RS), Joe's (FEP: 84NAVYCAT), Dave's (FEP: mytrscapri50), and mine (Lee/FEP: f4fntm). In case you hadn't noticed (right), mine was the only freakin' Mustang in sight! When was the last time you saw Capris outnumber the Stangs 3 to 1? I don't wanna hear anymore griping from Capri guys about how they are an underprivileged minority!

After a lot of BSing and a thorough review of the cars and a bunch of literature, memorobilia, and notes brought by Neil, we retired indoors for a round of kart racing. The karts were electric and fairly fast, and the track quite long for an indoor setup. Dave abstained, but the rest of us went at it, including Carol. When all was said and done they printed each of us a slick-looking scorecard w/times, positions, etc. Here's mine; I leave it to the discerning reader to figure out who owned this session!   Woohoo!

[sorry, photo MIA—suffice to say, the author kicked posterior]

We wrapped up with (what else?) an impromptu burnout demo on the street in front of the kart place. Dave slipped out on us a few minutes early, sans tire smoke (you owe us next time, Dave!). I warmed up the crowd (okay, nobody there but us) with some power-braking action, then Joe hazed a quick one from a slow roll while I came back to watch. Neil (despite tire-conservationist Nelson's protests  ) laid down a quality scratch with his TRXs out the driveway. Moments later, Joe crept back in and uncorked some big-cam 351W power to wrap up with a smoke show worthy of a pic in 5.0 Mustangs!

All in all, a very enjoyable gathering. We're already looking forward to meeting again, especially when summer rolls around!
