World’s largest gathering of 1979-1986 Mustangs & Capris!

Northwest Foureye Barbecue

2004 lineup sm

5th annual Northwest Foureye BBQ - how much bigger can it get?!?!

It was time once again this Saturday, August 16th, for the galaxy's largest gathering of foureyes. The Big Guy upstairs arranged a gorgeous day for it - 80 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Stunt planes, helicopters, and assorted light aircraft took off from the nearby regional airport and zoomed overhead. Cars and people began gathering in Neil Knutson's big field in Arlington, WA at 10 a.m., and before it was over, last year's attendance record of twenty-five cars was crushed into oblivion. We had... (wait for it!) thirty-seven '79-'86 Mustangs, Capris, and SVOs in one place at one time. Count 'em! Thirty-seven!

Folks showed up from all over Washington and Oregon; some drove more than 230 miles one way to take their place in the sun. But get a load of this: Joe Arallo (FEP: 84NAVYCAT) trailered his beefy 351-equipped '84 bubbleback Capri RS up from Seal Beach, CA, just to be at this year's bash. For those of you marking your scorecards, that's 2,432 miles roundtrip!

Joe was one of the four original FEP members who got together for the first NW Foureye meet back in 2004 (above, second from left):

The rest of our attendees, in no particular order:

Steve and his 5.0/T5 '85 GT vert made a short drive from Everett, WA.

FEP member Tim (FEP: "Lance-a-Lot") cruised in from Lynwood, WA, for his third year straight at the barbeque in the Bittersweet '82 Capri RS 5.0/T5.

Ron and his clean 5.0/5-spd Capri were here in 2006, missed last year, but made the trip for this year's BBQ from Mt Vernon, WA.

Father and son team Jarrod (FEP: “4cedFed79”)  and Marty (FEP: "Mustang Marty") of Lynwood, WA, have been to the event for four years now, but this is the first they brought individual cars.  Here's Jarrod and his '79 2.3T notch, which looks better every year, and dad with his 5.0-powered '85 ASC/McLaren convertible - rare indeed.

Chris (FEP: "chalkysexplorer") made the long haul again from Portland, OR, in his '84 SVO.

A first-timer this year, Tim showed up in an '82 Capri RS with 5.0 power, a later-model spoiler, and everyone's favorite scoop.

Another father and son team who expanded into two cars this year, Wayne (FEP: "4eyed86gt") and David (FEP: "86hatch") hail from Coquitlam, B.C. (that's Canada, eh?).  On the left is David with his new-to-the-BBQ '85 5.0/T5 GT, opposite Wayne's '86 Mustang GT with (what else?) a FI 5.0 and stick.

Also making it two in a row was Mark (FEP: "82mustang") of Aberdeen, WA, this time with his girfriend Jennifer and a really tough '86 notch packing a 351 and 5-speed.

Here's Mark again (left), this time with his '82 GT and friend Jeff (FEP: "7t9cobra").  Jeff's Cobra is undergoing a rebuild (see thread on FEP) and couldn't make the trip, so he drove Mark's car up for the event.

Neil's son Nelson (FEP: "Schoolboy") is the proud new owner of an SVO, but it's undergoing engine resuscitation and had to be left at home.  Instead, we have here his '79 Capri RS packing 5.0/SROD motivation.

Right behind Bram was his friend Bill (FEP: "livingroomproducer") from Edmonds, WA, with this V8/SROD-powered '83 GLX convertible.

A friend of Neil's whose schedule finally cleared up enough this year for him to attend, here’s Chip and his son with his '85 Mustang LX with CFI 5.0/AOD

A home-grown, turbo 2.3-powered '80 Cobra from right here in Arlington propelled Kevin and his wife on the short trip to Neil's field.

Dave (FEP: "Snake") and his wife came on down from Half Moon Bay, B.C., to take part in the festivities for the second year running.

Seattle, WA, is home to Henery (FEP: "84interceptor") and his Medium Canyon Red '85 Mustang GT, who made the drive to Neil's for the first time this year.

Bram drove up from Bellevue, WA, in time to be part of the official count this year in his modified '86 GT.

Another northern neighbor here for his second year, Tanner (FEP: "tanner321") brought his '83 GLX vert with GT trim.  It's so sharp, he was even invited to meet with certain law enforcement representatives on his way down from Surrey, B.C.

A Canadian out of Agassiz, B.C., Norris (FEP: "black1980fiveoh") made this his second year at the barbeque with his good-looking '80 Mustang with 302/C4 power.

Doug (FEP: "missmy85") of Castle Rock, WA, looked for a year for an '85 T-roof Mustang GT that would look as good as the one he had in high school and get him an invite to the biggest foureye gathering ever.  He recently hit pay dirt with this 5.0/T5 car.

Another car from Arlington that keeps getting better every year, Gaylord's '84 Anniversary car has everything from a built 5.0 with hidden wiring to 3.73 diff to '98 Cobra running gear.
